The mission of the Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD) includes the protection of life, property and rights. To uphold the U.S. Constitution, to fairly enforce the laws of the U.S. Government, the State of New Mexico, (as they apply to the Major and Assimilative Crime Acts) and the Pueblo of Santa Ana’s (both contemporary and traditional) ordinances. To provide alternative dispute resolution; creating a feeling of security in the Pueblo; pro-actively reducing the opportunities for the commission of a crime; identification, apprehension and prosecution of offenders of the laws; and the preservation of the peace.
We, the members of SAPD in partnership with the Tribal Council and Pueblo Members at large are responsible for the quality of life in our community, we will engage in policies to maintain order, reduce crime and the fear of crime through education, prevention and enforcement.
The SAPD places as much importance and concern in the fair treatment of our personnel as we do in the treatment of the community which we serve. The protection of our children and elderly will always have a special emphasis. We will take extra-ordinary care to treat the public with fairness, dignity and respect, while protecting SAPD officers from harm and providing for our and their personal safety.
